Emergency Plumbing

Pipes that have burst, flexi hoses that have let go, sewage coming back up. Somebody picks up at any hour of any day here, and we will talk you through isolating the water while the van is loading.

Emergency call-outs

Hot Water

Storage, continuous flow, heat pump and solar, gas and electric. Because nothing scales up in this water, a dead unit here has lost its anode or burnt an element, and a fair share of those are repairs.

Gas Fitting

Cooktops, heaters, gas lines. Installed, pressure tested and signed off inside one visit, and the compliance certificate goes into your hand rather than into the post.

Taps, Leaks & Burst Pipes

Taps that drip, leaks you cannot see, pipes that have split. Traced with listening gear and pressure testing. Pool suction and return lines get exactly the same treatment.

What a plumber costs in Killara

Almost nobody in plumbing publishes figures. We do, because a quote with nothing to compare it against is not really information. These are 2026 Sydney entry points. That covers the van at the door and the trade's hourly rate. Job-by-job figures sit on each service page.

01

Getting someone out: $0–$180

Nil for anything booked from this page. Come to us another way and the standard Sydney attendance fee applies, usually at the higher end of that spread.

02

The hourly rate you will be quoted elsewhere: $100–$150

What the market asks during business hours. Most quotes are silently built on top of it. We build ours differently, and the reason sits directly below.

03

After hours, weekends and holidays: $180–$250

Trade loading for nights, weekends and holidays. We apply none of it, because your figure was locked before departure.

04

A typical emergency repair: $250–$700

One number, agreed, to make a burst safe or free a line or isolate a gas fault. Not a meter that starts when we park.

05

Your fixed price: agreed first

Written and given to you before we begin. Anything that changes the scope stops work until you have approved the revision.

Treat the middle pair as what the market charges rather than what we charge. Hourly billing sells time. It does not sell a resolved problem, and on anything diagnostic those two purchases part company quickly. We price the work rather than the hours, so the figure you approve is the figure you settle. And where two free tests you can run yourself will answer half the question, we would rather tell you about them than bill you for finding out. Where you already know what you need, the real figures live on the blocked drains, pipe relining, burst pipes and leaks, hot water and gas fitting pages.

The difference between a plumber and a licensed plumber.

Anyone can call themselves a plumber. A licensed one carries a NSW licence number, real insurance, and the legal accountability that comes with both, so when a gas job is certified or a repair signed off, it actually means something.

NSW licensed and fully insured, on these streets constantly. Australian Standards on every job, and a written lifetime warranty covering the workmanship.

Plumbing in Killara

A swimming pool is a plumbed system. It has suction and return lines, fittings where those lines pass through the shell, a skimmer and usually a light niche, and every one of those is somewhere water can leave. It is also a large open surface, which means it loses water to evaporation every single day whether anything is wrong or not. Those two facts together are why a dropping level is a diagnosis rather than a verdict, and why the first thing we tell people costs nothing. Across the upper North Shore, a licensed local plumber is only minutes away, same-day and 24/7 for genuine emergencies.

Common plumbing problems we see in Killara

  • A pool is a plumbed system. Suction and return lines, fittings through the shell, a skimmer and usually a light niche. Every one of them is somewhere water can leave.
  • Hot water systems giving out. A cylinder that has quit in this part of Sydney has lost its anode or an element. Nothing scaled up. We work on gas, electric, heat pump and solar, and we repair rather than replace whenever repairing is the truthful answer, usually the same day.
  • Ageing galvanised & earthenware pipe. Older homes in East Lindfield, Davidson and West Pymble still run on steel and clay pipe that rusts, roots and splits over time.
  • Gas fitting & compliance. Cooktops, heaters and gas lines in housing that in much of this suburb predates every appliance in it. Our licensed fitters bring it to standard and certify it on the day.
  • But every pool loses water anyway. Evaporation happens daily whether anything is wrong or not, which is why a dropping level is a diagnosis rather than a verdict.
  • So the free test comes first. A bucket on the step for two days separates the two, and watching it with the pump on and then off narrows the rest before anybody starts testing lines.

Still have a question? Licensed plumber van servicing Killara
How much does a plumber charge per hour in Killara?

You will hear $100 to $150 an hour quoted around Sydney. It is accurate and it is not a budget, because nobody knows in advance how many hours sit behind your particular job. Our figure covers the whole job and is agreed first.

How fast can you get to me in Killara?

For real emergencies the target is inside sixty minutes to your door, throughout Killara and neighbouring streets, whatever the day or hour.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

You hear every charge on the phone, before the van moves. Nothing lands on an invoice unannounced. Book through this page and no attendance charge exists.

How do I know you're a licensed plumber?

It is NSW Licence 368473C. Take the minute to look it up on the Fair Trading register, for us and for anybody else you let onto the property. Working without a licence is illegal here and it will sink an insurance claim, so the number is on every quote we hand over.

My hot water system failed and it isn't that old. Why?

It comes down to how soft the water is. Hard water fills a cylinder with scale and that is what kills it elsewhere in the world. Sydney does not work that way. What happens instead is that the anode inside is eaten away doing its job of protecting the steel, and once there is none left the tank itself begins to go. Or an element simply burns out. Neither one automatically means buying a new system.

My pool is losing water. How do I know whether it is a leak?

Do the bucket test, and do it before you pay anybody anything. Fill a bucket with pool water and stand it on a step so it is partly submerged. Mark the water level inside the bucket and the pool level outside it. Leave both for a day or two with the pump running as normal, then compare. If both have dropped by the same amount, that is evaporation and your pool is fine. If the pool has dropped further than the bucket, water is going somewhere it should not be, and then it is worth a plumber.

Do you work on heritage and conservation-area homes?

Killara station opened in 1899 and the suburb's Federation-era housing largely followed it. The pools came decades afterwards, put into gardens that were already established, which is why so few people have any real idea where the lines under them run. That does not make them problematic. It means a pool leak is investigated rather than assumed, in exactly the way any other buried line would be.

Does it matter whether the pump is running when it loses water?

It matters a great deal, and it is the second free thing you can find out. Watch the level over a day with the pump running normally, then over a day with it off. If the loss is worse while the pump runs, that points at the pressure side, meaning the return lines. If it is worse with the pump off, that points at the suction side. Either answer narrows the search enormously before anybody pressure tests anything, which makes the job shorter and cheaper.

What areas around Killara do you cover?

The whole Killara LGA and every suburb around it: Davidson, East Lindfield, Forestville, Gordon, West Pymble, Davidson, East Lindfield, East Lindfield and more.

Hot water systems we service and replace

Hot water outweighs everything else in the callout diary. Electric storage dominates the older housing here, gas appears wherever a property is connected for it, and continuous flow shows up where a cylinder had to leave the floor. These are the makes. Repairing and replacing hot water systems is most of what we do here, and we are straight about what each job costs and the age at which a unit stops being worth fixing.

We service and replace these systems as an independent licensed plumber. We are not an agent for, or endorsed by, any of these manufacturers.
